OSUN 2026: Civil Society Situation Room Scores Poll High
The Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room has declared the 2026 Osun State Governorship Election as largely peaceful.
The election had a 43.2% voter turnout despite significant technical challenges with BVAS machines and isolated reports of voter inducement.
In its final post-election report, the Situation Room, which deployed over 300 observers alongside partner networks, also noted that while result uploads to the IReV portal were highly efficient, inadequate BVAS deployment at high-volume polling units resulted in long waiting times.
However, it raised some concerns about delays due to congestion at some polling units with large numbers of registered voters where inadequate BVAS deployment resulted in prolonged waiting times.
