Donald Trump Names Truth Social Adviser Katie Zacharia as New White House Press Secretary
President Donald Trump announced Friday that conservative commentator and communications executive Katie Zacharia will serve as the new permanent White House Press Secretary.
Zacharia, who currently works as a Senior Communications Advisor for Trump Media & Technology Group—the parent company of Truth Social—will fill the high-profile vacancy left by Karoline Leavitt. Leavitt stepped down from the role in late August to focus on her family.
Trump made the announcement via his Truth Social platform, offering high praise for his new chief spokesperson’s loyalty and career history.
“It is my great honor to have just appointed, as Press Secretary, Katie Zacharia,” Trump wrote. “Katie currently serves as Senior Communications Advisor to Truth Social (Trump Media & Technology Group), where she has been outstanding!”
Deep Ties to the Administration and MAGA Movement
Zacharia is a familiar face within Trump’s inner circle and conservative media landscapes. A California native, she is an attorney holding degrees from Pepperdine University and the Pepperdine Caruso School of Law. She has regularly appeared as a political commentator on networks such as Fox News and Newsmax.
Her experience includes a brief stint as a spokesperson and deputy assistant secretary for public affairs at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under Secretary Kristi Noem.
Trump emphasized Zacharia’s grassroots involvement in his political campaigns, noting her efforts in crucial battleground states.
“She was previously involved in my campaigns, assisting in key swing states, where we won 7 out of 7,” Trump stated. “She has an unblemished record of support and has been a loyal and brilliant supporter, right from the beginning. She is, likewise, a devoted fan and member of MAGA!”
Zacharia was reportedly offered the permanent post on Friday, marking a major transition from managing communications for Trump’s private media enterprise to leading the official press shop of the executive branch. Zacharia becomes Trump’s sixth chief spokesperson across his two administrations.
The President expressed strong confidence that she will bridge relationships between the administration and reporters. “I am confident that Katie will deliver strong results for our country as the next White House Press Secretary, as she has the respect of, and will work fantastically with, the media, the American people, and my administration,” Trump added.
Zacharia succeeds Karoline Leavitt, whom Trump thanked for doing a “fantastic job as press secretary.” Reports indicate that Leavitt has accepted a role with Fox News.
