TINUBU’S RE-ELECTION: Abdulaziz Yari, Uzodimma Lead APC 2027 Presidential Campaign Council
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially established its high-powered Presidential Campaign Council for the January 2027 presidential elections.
Announced by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the strategic lineup places President Bola Tinubu as Council Chairman and Vice President Kashim Shettima as Vice Chairman. APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda will also serve as a vice chairman.
Key Leadership Structure of the 2027 APC Campaign Council
The ruling party has deployed a robust hierarchy of experienced political strategists to drive its re-election campaign. They include:
Director-General: Senator Abdulaziz Yari (Former Zamfara State Governor)
Secretary: Governor Hope Uzodimma (Imo State Governor)
Deputy Secretary: Senator Ajibola Bashiru (APC National Secretary)
Assistant Secretary: Hadiza Bala-Usman
Regional and Operational Deputy Director-Generals:
Southern Region: Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Opeyemi Bamidele
Northern Region:
Tajudeem Abbas (Speaker House of Reps)
Mai Mala Buni (Yobe State Governor)
Senator Jibril Barau (Deputy Senate President)
Mobilisation: Senator Adams Oshiomhole
Administration: Chief of Staff to the President
Election Planning, Coordination & Monitoring: James Abiodun Faleke
Advisory Body and Legal Directorate
To ensure political cohesion, the APC has constituted an advisory organ packed with party veterans. They include Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Segun Osoba, and Senator Rochas Okorocha. Others are Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.
Meanwhile, the Legal Directorate has been structured under the leadership of Muiz Adeyemi Banire as Director, alongside newly appointed zonal directors covering the six geopolitical zones.
Media, Strategy, and Communications Team
The APC has strengthened its media apparatus to properly project the administration’s economic milestones. Communicating the president’s achievements and countering opposition media fireworks is considered highly crucial.
The Minister of Information will coordinate the communications department, while Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga, and Lanre Issa-Onilu will serve as strategic communication directors.
However, the lead campaign spokesperson will be Dele Alake. Other spokespersons are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu, and Adamu Fanda.
Notably missing in the list are Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, and Sunday Dare, who is the Special Adviser to the President on Public Communications and Orientation.
In the new media sub-directorate, Segun Dada is to serve as director, and Solomon Arowolo will serve as secretary.
Tinubu Charges Council on Economic Gains and Unity
President Bola Tinubu has urged the newly inaugurated council members to work tirelessly for a clean sweep in January 2027. He emphasized that his administration has successfully delivered on its mandates, positioning Nigeria firmly on the path of economic progress.
Tinubu charged the media team to showcase these real achievements, inspire hope among citizens, and defeat opposition forces attempting to pull the nation backward. He additionally instructed directors to run an inclusive campaign by engaging party members who were not formally listed in the council structure.
