Troops Rescue 25 Kidnap Victims in Katsina and Zamfara Operations

The Joint Task Force Northwest, under the banner of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, has successfully rescued 25 kidnapped individuals during aggressive, separate counter-terrorism operations across Katsina and Zamfara states.

The feat was recorded on September 3, 2026, following fierce gun battles with terrorists and sustained military pressure in the region.

According to an official statement released by Lieutenant Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer for Operation FANSAN YAMMA, the operations heavily disrupted terrorist activities and freed citizens from prolonged captivity.

Midnight Gun Battle in Katsina

In Katsina State, Sector 1 troops were conducting a routine night patrol along the Kwanar Kura axis in the Sabuwa Local Government Area when they crossed paths with an armed terrorist group.

The military engaged the criminals with overwhelming firepower, forcing them to abandon their mission and flee into the nearby forests under the cover of darkness.

The statement says troops were on hot pursuit of the fleeing terrorists through the bush, ultimately discovering and rescuing two victims who had been abducted along the Dandume-Damari Road. Soldiers also recovered two operational motorcycles left behind by the criminals.

23 Civilians Freed in Zamfara

Simultaneously, in neighboring Zamfara State, Sector 2 troops executed a strategic fighting patrol on the outskirts of Wuya town, located within the Anka Local Government Area.

The patrol resulted in the safe rescue of 23 abducted civilians, consisting of three males and 20 females.

A preliminary military investigation revealed that the 23 victims had been violently abducted from the Gummi Local Government Area. They had been subjected to harrowing conditions in terrorist camps for roughly three weeks before their rescue.
