President Tinubu Travels to Makkah to Pray for the Nation
ABUJA, NIGERIA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Thursday for Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to perform the Umrah pilgrimage, the State House has announced.
According to a press statement released on Wednesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the spiritual exercise will serve as an opportunity for the President to engage in reflection, devotion, and national intercession.
“The visit gives the President an opportunity for spiritual reflection, devotion, and prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability, and continued progress,” the statement read.
While in the Holy City, President Tinubu will perform the traditional religious rites associated with the lesser Hajj, seeking divine guidance and blessings for Nigeria and its citizens.
Before his departure, the President will oversee an official military event at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
President Tinubu is expected to commission newly acquired operational equipment for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to bolster ongoing security and defense operations across the country.
The Presidency confirmed that President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria next week after concluding the spiritual exercise.
