Operation Fansan Yamma: Troops Foil Bandit Attack, Rescue Two Abducted Travellers in Zamfara
Troops attached to Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued two individuals abducted by armed bandits in the Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The rescue operation followed a swift response by the military to a localized terrorist ambush along the busy Anka–Gadan Manya Road.
According to official military updates confirmed on October 5, 2026, the encounter occurred during the morning of September 4, 2026.
Troops conducting a routine security patrol sighted a group of heavily armed bandits intercepting and attacking two travellers on a motorcycle and immediately mobilized its tactical team. Caught off guard by the rapid military response, the attackers abandoned their captives and fled into the dense surrounding terrain.
Both victims were secured unharmed and rescued directly from the scene by the patrol unit.

Following the incident, the Nigerian Army and affiliated security forces have intensified aggressive presence patrols throughout the general area. The ongoing mop-up operations aim to deny criminal elements freedom of movement, eliminate bandit hideouts, and guarantee safety for commuters across the local government area
