Nigerian Troops Rescue Nursing Mother, Infant and Other Women in Katsina and Sokoto Operations
A series of swift counter-terrorism operations by Nigerian troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have yielded successful outcomes following the rescue of five abducted women in Katsina State and foiled a major terrorist raid in Sokoto State, recovering a large herd of rustled livestock in the process.
Military officials confirmed that both breakthroughs were heavily driven by intelligence and strategic partnerships with local communities.
In Katsina State, military operatives tracked the suspicious movements of heavily armed terrorists around the Madaci Forest area, located within the Sabuwa Local Government Area (LGA), mobilized and intercepted the criminal syndicate.
The terrorists abruptly abandoned their captives, leading to the safe rescue of five female victims.

The group includes a mother and her infant child, alongside three minors and young adults, all originally missing from the Danja and Funtua LGAs.
Following their rescue, the victims were safely handed over to the Chairman of Bakori LGA, Hon. Abubakar Musa, to facilitate immediate medical evaluation and reunification with their families.
Troops are said to be carrying out aggressive clearance patrols to dominate the forest axis and deny remnants of the gang any freedom of movement.
Sokoto: Terror Attack Repelled, Livestock Restored
Simultaneously in Sokoto State, troops from the 248 Reconnaissance Battalion successfully repelled an aggressive terrorist assault targeting Badiya Village in the Shagari Local Government Area.
Alerted by surveillance data regarding suspicious armed movements on the outskirts of the village, troops overwhelm the terrorists in a gunfight, forcing them to abandon a large herd of stolen livestock.

To quickly restore normalcy and reinforce community resilience, a brief handover ceremony was facilitated by the Chairman of Shagari LGA alongside the local District Head. The recovered animals have since been officially documented and returned to their rightful owners.
Defense headquarters has reiterated that these dual operational victories underscore the armed forces’ unwavering commitment to safeguarding rural communities, protecting agrarian livelihoods, and systematically dismantling bandit networks across the Northwest region
