Osun SSG Teslim Igbalaye Released Following Overnight Police Detention

The Osun State Police Command has released the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Teslim Igbalaye, after detaining him overnight.

His release followed a raid on his Osogbo residence on Wednesday, during which the police arrested and detained Igbalaye alongside five other individuals.

Campaign Council Confirms Release

Pelumi Olajengbesi, spokesperson for the Imole Campaign Council—the group driving Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election campaign—confirmed the development on Thursday.

Olajengbesi expressed gratitude to police leadership for resisting external political interference. “We sincerely appreciate the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, for listening to the voice of reason despite pressure,” Olajengbesi stated via a Facebook post.

“The Nigerian Police Force best serves the nation when it stands against oppression and upholds justice and the rule of law.” He praised the SSG’s resilience, adding, “Your courage and sacrifice for the people of Osun State will not be forgotten.
