Osun Crackdowns on Suspects Behind Motor Park Murder
The Osun State Government is on the trail of suspects behind the killing of transport union leader Comrade Olamilekan, popularly known as “Emir Ajagungbade.”
The government has also directed all warring factions to vacate state motor parks immediately and announced the creation of a centralized Park Management System via a forthcoming executive order to restore statewide security.
Tragic Clash Over Motor Park Control
The victim, widely known as Emir Ajagungbade, was shot dead at the Mayfair Garage in Ile-Ife. Eyewitness reports link the violence directly to an ongoing leadership tussle over the control and revenue collection of the commercial motor park.
The fatal shooting sparked immediate tension across the area, prompting swift executive intervention to prevent further reprisal attacks by rival transport factions.
Executive Order and New Park Management System
In a decisive move to curb transport union violence, Governor Ademola Adeleke announced a complete overhaul of how commercial parks operate in Osun State. Key directives from the governor include eviction of warring groups including all commercial drivers and rival unions involved in the leadership dispute, who must vacate state-owned motor parks with immediate effect.
The government has also directed the setting up of a new park management system, transitioning away from union-controlled parks, and introducing a government-regulated management structure to handle operations and restore revenue discipline.
To forestall further incidents, the Osun State Police Command and alternative security agencies have been deployed to commercial hubs to maintain law and order.
Governor Adeleke reiterated that his administration maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward violence.
