The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State has been forced back to square one after a Federal High Court in Gusau nullified the party’s senatorial primary election for Zamfara North
Presiding Judge Justice Hassan Dikko ruled that the May 19 vote never actually took place, stripping Saabi Ya’au of his contested victory.
In its consequential order, the judge ordered the APC to conduct a fresh, transparent primary election within 14 days.
The case began following a challenge from rival aspirant Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, who took the party to court on grounds that the laid-down legal framework of the APC and the Electoral Act were not complied with.
