2027: Wike Slams Atiku Over Fuel Subsidy U-Turn, Labels Him ‘Voodoo Economist’
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has taken a direct hit at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over comments made by the former VP criticizing Tinubu’s administration’s removal of fuel subsidy.
The FCT minister on Thursday mocked Atiku’s promise to restore the controversial petrol subsidy regime, labeling him as a “confused politician” and a “voodoo economist” who makes populists’ comments simply for political reasons.
Atiku, who is the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), had argued in a Facebook Live session that Tinubu’s subsidy removal failed to have any impact on the common man, insisting the funds have not improved the national people’s welfare, national security, and healthcare services.

Wike used his briefing to dismiss the chances of opposition figures like Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi in the 2027 elections. He claimed that the opposition coalition is deeply fragmented and lacks the organized structure needed to unseat President Tinubu.
