FCT Minister Vows 2027 Resignation if Tinubu Loses Key Regions

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has stated he will resign if President Bola Tinubu loses the FCT and Rivers State in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking to the Apo Mechanics and Traders Association in Abuja on Wednesday, Wike indicated he would step down on January 17, 2027, the day after the scheduled election, if the two areas fail to deliver victory to the president.

He stressed that his position is tied to his political performance in his areas of influence.

Though serving in the APC-led cabinet, Wike remains an influential member of the opposition PDP.

He has been assigned to coordinate campaign efforts for Tinubu’s re-election bid in both Rivers State and the FCT.
