Nigeria’s GDP Grows 4.43% in Q2 2026 as Services and Agriculture Surge
Nigeria’s economic engine gathered momentum in the second quarter of 2026, driven by a resilient services sector and a sharp recovery in agricultural output.
According to the latest data, Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 4.43% year-on-year in real terms during Q2 2026.
The performance outpaces the 4.23% growth recorded in the second quarter of 2025, signaling steady economic recovery despite broader structural headwinds.
Services and Agriculture Anchor National Growth
The service sector solidified its position as the primary driver of the nation’s economic expansion. It recorded an impressive growth rate of 4.60% in Q2 2026, a substantial leap from the 3.94% expansion posted in the corresponding quarter of 2025.
Simultaneously, the agricultural sector showed marked improvement. Cultivation and agribusiness activities expanded by 4.39% under the quarter in review, bouncing back strongly from the sluggish 2.82% growth rate recorded in Q2 2025.

Industrial Output Faces Slowdown
In contrast to the upward trajectory of services and farming, Nigeria’s industrial sector experienced a notable cooldown. Industrial growth slowed to 3.96% in Q2 2026, down significantly from the robust 7.46% expansion achieved during the same period in 2025.
Services Sector Expands GDP Share
The dominant performance of the services industry translated directly into a higher macroeconomic footprint. In terms of overall share of the aggregate GDP, the services sector contributed 56.62% in the second quarter of 2026, up slightly from the 56.53% contribution captured in the second quarter of 2025.
