INEC to Conduct Legislative By-Elections in Four States in September
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled Saturday, September 19, 2026, for five crucial legislative by-elections across Gombe, Kano, Bauchi, and Delta states.
The electoral timeline was confirmed on Tuesday in Abuja by Adedayo Oketola, the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman.
According to Oketola, the upcoming polls will cover one federal constituency and four state constituencies where vacant legislative seats need to be filled.
Breakdown of Affected Constituencies
The specific areas where voting will take place include Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe State.
The other by-election will be held in state constituencies. These are Disina and Sakwa in Bauchi State, Udu and Dawakin Kudu in Delta State, alongside designated constituencies in Kano State.
Political parties intending to field candidates for these positions have already aligned their primary schedules to meet INEC’s regulatory deadlines as preparations ramp up across the affected states.
