2027 Momentum? APC Sweeps Legislative Bye-Elections Across Nigeria, Claims Landslide in Delta

In a major political statement ahead of the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured a landslide victory in the Udu Constituency State House of Assembly bye-election in Delta State.

The APC candidate, Ator Okolosi, was officially declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after scoring a staggering 8,724 votes.

Okolosi made light work of his closest challenger, George Orugbo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who managed just 212 votes.

Announcing the final results at the headquarters of the Udu Local Government Area, the INEC Returning Officer, Professor Omosede Osafile, confirmed that Okolosi met all legal requirements and was returned elected.

Broader Context: A September Sweep for the Ruling Party

The Udu constituency face-off was part of a broader set of legislative bye-elections conducted by INEC across four states, including Delta, Bauchi, Gombe, and Kano.

The results seem to have signaled strong grassroots momentum for the ruling APC.

In Delta State, the APC maintained a fierce grip on the Udu State Constituency seat.

In Bauchi State, APC’s Yakubu Ali won the Disina State Constituency seat with 5,846 votes, holding off a tough challenge from the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), which scored 5,225.

In Gombe and Kano States, the APC also dominated, securing the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency and the Dawakin Kudu State Constituency, respectively.
