APC Wins Landslide In Gombe Federal Constituency Bye-Election
Kallamu Usman MaiJama’a of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared the winner of the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency bye-election held on Saturday, 19th September 2026.
The poll was organized to fill the vacant seat in the House of Representatives. The seat became vacant following the tragic passing of the constituency’s previous federal lawmaker, Yaya Bauchi Tongo.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer for the election, Professor Umar Guramar, confirmed the outcome during the official declaration of results.
According to Professor Guramar, a total of 47,301 votes were cast during the legislative election across the constituency.
Landslide Victory for APC
The APC candidate secured a landslide victory, polling 41,121 votes to defeat his opponents by a wide margin.
His closest rival, Maigari Jungudo of the Labour Party (LP), finished a distant second with 3,553 votes.
The breakdown of the remaining votes includes shows that the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) polled 872 votes, while the National Democratic Party (NDP) got 707 votes. The Action Peoples Party (APP) came next with 298 votes
