INEC Begins Display of Voters Register in Oyo Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Oyo State is set to display the Preliminary Register of Voters for public scrutiny.

The exercise allows registered citizens to make claims and objections across all 33 Local Government Area (LGA) offices ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

In a press release signed by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Prof. Rahman Adeniran Tella, INEC confirmed that the display will run from Tuesday, August 4, to Monday, August 10, 2026.

The daily exercise will take place between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.According to Prof. Tella, this display aligns with INEC’s official timetable to ensure a transparent electoral process.

Key Actions for Voters During the Exercise: Verify Details:

  • Check spelling of names, personal data, and biometric information.
  • ⁠Correct Errors: Submit corrections for any data entry mistakes.
  • ⁠Update Records: Apply for voter registration transfers or update personal profiles.
  • ⁠Replace PVCs: Request replacements for lost, faded, or damaged Permanent Voters Cards.
  • ⁠Raise Objections: Report the inclusion of deceased individuals, underage registrants, or non-citizens.

Prof. Tella urged all eligible voters in Oyo State to participate actively to help clean up the state’s voter database. He emphasized that all claims and objections must be submitted physically at designated INEC LGA offices within the one-week window.
