The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is planning major stress tests of its systems ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

This initiative is a critical step in assessing the commission’s technological and operational readiness ahead of the 2027 general elections.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, announced the timeline during an official visit from the Canadian High Commission delegation at the INEC headquarters in Abuja.

Stress-Testing BVAS and Electoral Tech

The November accreditation mock exercise will serve as a rigorous field test for the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and other vital electoral hardware.

According to Prof. Amupitan, the primary goals of the exercise include identifying glitches, detecting and resolving operational challenges, upgrading systems, and validating real-time data transmission speeds and biometric verification accuracy.

The commission also plans to deploy artificial intelligence to counter disinformation.
