South African authorities are investigating the killing of former boxing champion Zolani Tete.
The 38-year-old Tete was shot on Friday multiple times at his home in Mdantsane township in South Africa’s Eastern Cape province.
Initial reports said armed men wearing balaclavas accosted him and opened fire, fatally wounding him, while a young lady in the car suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Authorities say the motive is yet unclear. The country’s sports minister, Gayton McKenzie, issued a statement saying he couldn’t speculate about who did this or why.
