Could Kevin Lamour’s Sack Trigger Major Shakeup in FIFA?
The sack of Kevin Lamour has sparked fears that the world’s football governing body FIFA, could be heading into a fresh crisis phase.
Lamour was at the heart of the organization’s operations but was publicly critical of Gianni Infantino’s plan to sell part of the commercial rights of the World Cup.
On Monday, FIFA announced that Lamour was no longer a part of the organisation after only joining FIFA two years prior. The spokesperson said, “FIFA thanks Kevin for his two years of service and wishes him the best of luck for the future. No further comment will be made on the matter.”
He had described the commercial proposal by Infantino as serving a personal interest and not that of football.
Lamour’s resignation is one of the high profile resignations that have hit FIFA, coming after one of Infantino’s senior advisors
Carlos Cordeiro, tendered his resignation over the same issue.
