Alleged Cyber Fraud: Access Bank Files N1.34 Billion Fraud Case Against 71 Entities
Access Bank Plc is moving to freeze dozens of external bank accounts following a massive 1.34 billion Naira unauthorized transfer.
The Tier-1 lender filed an emergency application at the Federal High Court in Lagos on August 13, 2026. The legal move targets accounts held by individuals who allegedly received the stolen funds.
According to court documents, the multi-billion Naira breach hit the bank’s digital platform, specifically the Access SME app.
To trace and halt the movement of the missing funds, Access Bank filed suit number FHC/LAG/CS/1168/2026. The legal action names 71 financial institutions and payment service providers as respondents.
The extensive list of affected platforms spans major commercial banks, microfinance banks, and fintech firms.
Key institutions listed include First Bank, Fidelity Bank, Ecobank, Carbon, FairMoney, and eTranzact.
