WAEC Releases 2026 WASSCE Results, Withholding Results from 50 Schools
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the results for the 2026 Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) for school candidates.
According to the Head of National Office (HNO), Amos Dangut, a total of 1,200,514 candidates secured five credits or more, including mandatory passes in English Language and Mathematics.
This achievement serves as the core benchmark required for admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions.
Performance Decline and Examination Malpractice
While briefing journalists, Dangut revealed that the 2026 performance figures indicate a 1.42% decline compared to the results recorded during the 2025 examination cycle.
In a strict move against academic dishonesty, the examination body has withheld the results of 50 schools across various states due to alleged examination malpractice.
WAEC has issued a strict 14-day ultimatum to the affected schools to submit a detailed report on the incidents. Failure to comply within this two-week window will attract severe sanctions from the council.
