Troops Arrest Terrorist Collaborator, Recover ₦5.3m Cash

Troops in Zamfara State have arrested a suspected terrorist collaborator, Lawali Dan Alo, and recovered ₦5.302 million in cash hidden inside a bag of food.

The operation was a joint effort of special forces under Operation FANSAN YAMMA

The success signifies a major blow to the logistical and financial networks of bandits and terrorists operating in the region.

According to a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer for Operation FANSAN YAMMA, the 35-year-old suspect was identified during a routine security operation.

Who is the suspect?

Identified as Lawali Dan Alo, the 35-year-old was carrying a bag claiming to contain only food items. However, upon interrogation, the sum of ₦5,302,000 in cash and a mobile phone was discovered.

Dan Alo is said to have confessed that he was delivering the money on behalf of a notorious terrorist leader. The cash was en route to an individual identified as Kasimu Garba to fund ongoing terrorist logistics.

IED Defused and Terrorists Flushed Out

In a separate clearance operation, troops neutralised multiple security threats across different Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Zurmi council area, safely detonated an explosive device near Jabanda Village, reopening the blocked road to the public.

Also in Birnin Magaji and council areas, troops engaged terrorists in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to flee into the forest.

Items recovered include abandoned motorcycles, a military camouflage jungle hat, and a handheld radio.

The Nigerian military high command continues to urge Zamfara residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to security forces immediately.
