Security Alert: Keke Ban Announced for Jos-Bukuru Metropolis
Tricycle (Keke-NAPEP) operations are banned in the Jos-Bukuru metropolis and major towns across Plateau State effective Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
The Plateau State Police Command ordered the temporary restriction to secure the area for the Eid Maulud celebrations.
Key Security Measures
Under the directives, there will be total restriction on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, to prevent reckless driving and potential criminal activity.
Authorities have also reiterated the ban on commercial motorcycles. The long-standing ban remains strictly in force across all areas under the Jos metropolis.
Residents have been assured that there will be a heavy security presence to guard major roads, prayer grounds, and public venues throughout the festive period.
Anti-Extortion Warning
The police are also putting the spotlight on its men. State Police Commissioner Ayodeji Faniyan strictly warned officers against using the restriction to extort citizens.
The command has told operators to refuse any payment demands from police personnel and immediately report misconduct.
