Governor Adeleke Demands Immediate Arrest
Reacting to the development, the incumbent Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke—who is seeking re-election under the Accord Party platform—held an emergency press conference on Tuesday at the Government House in Osogbo. Governor Adeleke condemned the lawmaker’s remarks, describing them as a deliberate attempt to destabilise the peace of the state.”These inflammatory remarks pose a major national security risk capable of destabilising the peaceful conduct of the August 15, 2026, election,” Adeleke warned.
The governor revealed that he has formally contacted the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, requesting rapid security intervention to protect voters and political actors from targeted violence.
Pre-Election Violence Prompts Security Shake-up
Osun State has recently recorded a dangerous spike in pre-election volatility. Incidents of targeted attacks on politicians and street protests by civil society groups have escalated.
