Ondo Police Launch Probe After 3 Children Are Found Dead Near Owena Barracks
Investigations have commenced into the deaths of three children on a farm near Owena Army Barracks in Akure.
The children who were all siblings have been identified as Joshua and Jacob Jonah, both 11-year-old twins, and their little 5-year-old sister Blessing.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, they went to the farm with their father, Samuel Jonah, on Friday, September 4, 2026.
The siblings later left the farm ahead of their father to head back home to the Oke Ogba area.
However, they never arrived. When their father returned home later that day and realized they were missing, he raised the alarm, prompting an immediate search operation by family members and neighbors.
The search ended in heartbreak on Saturday morning when the lifeless bodies of the three children were discovered near the bank of a small river flowing through the farm.
While the police have released the bodies to the family for burial, authorities state that the exact circumstances surrounding the tragic deaths remain a subject of intense investigation. The command has assured the public that it will uncover the truth behind the incident to ensure justice for the family.
