Nigeria Counter-Terrorism: Army Intercepts Huge Boko Haram Logistics Supply in Yobe

YOBE, Nigeria — The Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), has arrested two suspected terrorist logistics suppliers in Yobe State. During the swift intelligence-led operation, security forces recovered a massive cache of motorcycle spare parts and other vital supplies destined for Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) strongholds.

The operational breakthrough occurred on Tuesday, 8 September 2026, following what authorities called “actionable human intelligence” detailing the movement of suspicious cargo meant to sustain terrorist operations within the Yunusari-Mobbar general area.

The Interception at Gumsa Bridge

Acting immediately on the tip-off, a fighting patrol consisting of troops from the 159 Battalion under Sector 2 OPHK, alongside collaborating security agencies, intercepted the illicit consignment at the strategic Gumsa Bridge, located within the Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The mechanical components seized during the raid represent critical assets used by the insurgents to maintain the high mobility of their tactical motorcycle units.

Recovered Items

The military successfully confiscated an extensive array of motorcycle parts and personal goods, which include mechanical and engine parts; electrical components, control and structural parts, including large quantities of motorcycle tyres, chains, sprockets, brake components, as well as acceleration and clutch cables.

Also seized were apparels and electronics comprising 145 pairs of footwear and 2 Tecno Android smartphones.

Dismantling the Terror Support Structure

According to a statement issued by Captain Mohammed Goni, the Acting Military Information Officer for the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, both the suspects and the recovered evidence have been transferred to the 27 Military Intelligence Regiment for deep interrogation and further investigation.

“The successful interception represents another effort by troops to disrupt terrorist logistics networks and deny them critical supplies required to sustain their activities,” Captain Goni stated.

He re-emphasised that OPHK remains heavily committed to completely dismantling civilian-supported insurgent supply chains across the North East Theatre.
