Nigeria’s counter-insurgency campaign has scored a major success as the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin Kai neutralised 15 terrorists during a midnight precision air strike near Pulka in the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

The operation, which took place at approximately 11:50 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2026, according to an official statement released on Saturday by Captain Mohammed Goni, the Acting Military Information Officer for the Theatre Command, followed intelligence and confirmed visual sightings of terrorist movements within the Pulka general area.

Immediately following the aerial bombardment, ground forces moved into the impact zone to exploit the area, clear remaining threats, and consolidate the military’s operational gains.

“The successful engagement highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-driven targeting and coordinated military action in disrupting terrorist movements and degrading their operational capabilities,” Captain Goni stated.

He emphasized that the Theatre Command remains unyielding in its mission to completely deny insurgent groups freedom of action while safeguarding vulnerable communities across the North East.

This latest victory forms part of an aggressive, sustained offensive posture by Nigerian troops. By integrating robust intelligence-gathering with the coordinated deployment of land and air assets, the Theatre Command has continued to dismantle logistics hubs, disrupt extremist activities, and fortify the security architecture of the region.

The military high command reassured the public that troops intend to maintain this aggressive operational momentum with maximum vigilance, determination, and professionalism.

In a bid to sustain the gains and foster long-term socio-economic recovery in affected communities, the Theatre Command has urged local residents to maintain a strong partnership with security forces.

Citizens are requested to remain vigilant and provide timely, actionable information regarding any suspicious individuals or unusual movements in their localities.
