Nigeria Appeals to the US for Critical Minerals Investment to Boost Economy
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Nigeria is aggressively courting the United States for increased investment in its multi-billion dollar solid minerals sector to drive economic diversification and secure global supply chains.
The strategic push follows a high-level diplomatic meeting at the White House between Nigeria’s Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, and senior U.S. government officials.
The Nigerian Minister held pivotal talks with David Copley, Special Assistant to the U.S. President and Senior Director for Global Supply Chain and Diana London who represented the DCI Group.
Securing Critical Mineral Supply Chains
The bilateral discussions centered heavily on forging a robust partnership to exploit Nigeria’s vast, untapped mineral wealth. Key focus areas included, upstream exploration, value addition, supply chain security to create secure pipelines for critical minerals essential for global technology and clean energy.
Driving the ‘Renewed Hope’ Agenda
According to the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, this diplomatic engagement directly aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda
The administration is actively seeking to position the mining sector as a cornerstone for accelerating economic diversification away from oil and create thousands of jobs for youth.
