Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have officially returned to the United Kingdom.

But their status will remain non-working royals; King Charles III has explicitly confirmed this, according to the BBC.

Following their surprise relocation from California, Buckingham Palace issued an official letter written by the Lord Chamberlain on behalf of the King. The guidance, sent to government departments, military officials, and the Sussexes’ team, aims to eliminate any “doubt or confusion” regarding their status.

Key Details of Their Return

The Palace reiterated that in line with the couple’s decision to step down from representative duties in January 2020, they will continue to live as private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.

Effectively, they cannot use the “HRH” (His/Her Royal Highness) titles and also will not be staying at a royal property.
