Background and Investment Mechanics
The FGN Savings Bond programme was established to democratize the local debt market, allowing low-to-middle-income earners to participate in government-backed securities traditionally dominated by institutional investors.
To ensure affordability, the units of sale are priced at N1,000 per unit. Investors can secure a position with a minimum subscription of N5,000, with further allocations allowed in multiples of N1,000 up to a maximum cap of N50 million.
Aside from steady wealth accumulation, the instrument serves as a strategic defensive asset for retail portfolios.
