A Private Funeral Has Been Held for the Interment of Music Icon Dolly Parton

Family sources said it was the private family event held on Friday at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Nashville.

She was laid to rest beside her late husband, Carl Dean.

Meanwhile, plans are underway to immortalize Parton by naming the Nashville International Airport after the late singer.

This came after thousands of fans signed an online petition to honour the Tennessee-born country music artist.

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee acceded to the request in honour of the city’s “favourite daughter.” He wrote in a statement: “It is

fitting that Nashville International Airport would bear the name of our state’s favourite daughter and greet travellers with the

enduring legacy of Dolly’s music, generosity, faith, and kindness.”
