Nigeria’s Super Falcons Out of WAFCON 2026 and 2027 Women’s World Cup After Cameroon Loss

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have crashed out of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) following a 1-0 defeat to Cameroon in the quarter-finals.

This loss means the ten-time African champions have also failed to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

Cameroon’s lone goal secured their victory and knocked the tournament favorites out of the competition.

WAFCON 2026 Semi-Final Matchups Take Shape

With Nigeria out, Cameroon advances to the semi-finals, where they will face tournament hosts Morocco.

Morocco booked their spot in the final four after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over South Africa.

Meanwhile, Algeria also advanced to the semi-finals by defeating Côte d’Ivoire 2-1.

In the final quarter-final fixture, Ghana will take on Malawi. Both teams are battling for a semi-final ticket and a coveted spot at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
