ABUJA — The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, says Nigeria’s economic outlook is on a strong upward trajectory, with the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) now outpacing its population growth rate.

Umahi shared this update in Abuja during his official induction as a patron of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

Infrastructure Milestones Driving the Economy

Defending the economic and infrastructural blueprints of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration, the Minister urged young Nigerians to evaluate the government strictly on its verifiable achievements rather than political rhetoric.

According to NANS leadership, Umahi’s induction stems from his aggressive execution of key federal road projects that have significantly improved the ease of doing business and daily commuting for millions of citizens.

Some of the critical projects highlighted include the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Expressway, the Abuja-Kaduna-Minna Route and the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway.

Looking Beyond Political Sentiments

Umahi emphasized that improving macroeconomic indicators are clear signs that the federal government’s reforms are working. He noted that while structural changes take time, the ultimate beneficiaries will be ordinary Nigerians.

He urged citizens, especially the youth, to look beyond political sentiments and support policies aimed at long-term national prosperity.
