A 35-year-old social media influencer, Faruk Mohammed, has been remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre over cyberbullying charges.

This follows his arrest and arraignment by the police over content said to be false and defamatory against Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Retired General Christopher Musa.

He was arraigned before Justice Obiorah Egwuatu, where he pleaded not guilty.

He is said to have claimed that the failure of the Defence Minister and current Service Chiefs to act appropriately led to the deaths of Nigerian soldiers fighting terrorists.

The court has adjourned the case till September 9, 2026, and ordered Mohammed’s remand at the Kuje Correctional facility pending hearing on bail
