Bursar of NOUN Gunned Down

The bursar of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Nasiru Gusau Marafa, has reportedly been shot dead.

The incident happened in Zamfara State on Sunday, 6th September 2026.

According to an official statement, the Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Oladipo Adetayo Ajayi, Marafa, was shot while returning from Gusau.

It is unclear whether it was a targeted or random attack.

The university described Marafa as a “dedicated administrator and valued member of the NOUN family.”
