UEFA Nations League: Big Wins for England, Belarus, and Iceland
England were the big winners in Saturday’s UEFA Nations League fixtures, thrashing Croatia 7-0 away from home.
Captain Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka each scored a brace in the game, with Jude Bellingham, Anthony Gordon, and substitute Morgan Rogers adding a goal each.
The win ensures England keeps pace close to the top of the table with 6 points, while Croatia sits on 3 points and the Czech Republic is at the bottom with zero points in League A, Group A3.
Meanwhile, Spain remain top of the group with 9 points from 3 matches after beating the Czech Republic 3-1 at home, with the away side playing the final minutes of the game a man down.
Belarus were the other big winners of the night, putting 4 goals past San Marino, while Finland got the better of an Albania side who finished a man down, ending the game 2-1.
Iceland secured the top spot in League C, Group L4, with a 3-0 win over Bulgaria, as Estonia beat Luxembourg 1-0.
In other fixtures, Scotland won 2-0 away at North Macedonia, finishing the match a man down after Scott McKenna received an 82nd-minute red card. However, Switzerland remains the leader of League B, Group B1, after a 2-1 win over Slovenia.
Slovenia remains level on points with Scotland at 4 points but holds a better goal aggregate, while North Macedonia stays rooted to the bottom with 0 points.
