Lagos Police Intercept Truckload of Counterfeit Drugs Worth Millions, Hand Over Suspects to NAFDAC
The Lagos State Police Command has smashed a major syndicate specializing in the manufacturing and distribution of adulterated pharmaceutical products and fake packaging materials worth millions of Naira.
The breakthrough operational success was disclosed by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, during a press briefing at the State Command Headquarters in Ikeja.
According to CP Fatai, police operatives intercepted a truck fully loaded with suspected fake medications and branding materials designed to mimic genuine pharmaceutical brands.
The illegal ring specialized in mass-producing these hazardous products and distributing them across Nigerian markets.
Following the parade of the suspects and display of the seized goods, the Lagos Police Command officially handed over the confiscated items and the arrested individuals to officials of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
NAFDAC officials took custody of the evidence and suspects at the command headquarters, confirming that a comprehensive laboratory analysis will be conducted ahead of strict legal prosecution in court.
