The Kwara State Police Command has arrested Muhamodu Sanni, a suspected member of a notorious kidnapping syndicate operating around the Obudu/Woru axis of Ilorin East Local Government Area.

Modern Tactics Foil Ransom Withdrawal

Security operatives intercepted Sanni at a Point-of-Sale (POS) outlet in Ilorin, where he was attempting to withdraw ransom money. The funds are linked to the armed invasion of Obudu Village on July 28, 2026, during which three people were abducted.

The breakthrough came after an intelligence-led investigation tracked the criminal network beyond the physical crime scene. Detectives successfully mapped out the syndicate’s communication lines, logistics networks, and financial channels.

Arrest Exposes Criminal Network

According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, tracking the financial trail led operatives directly to Sanni at the POS terminal. During police interrogation, the suspect confessed to his role in collecting ransom for the gang. He also exposed two other suspected syndicate members, identified as Aminu and Umar.

Operatives are currently pursuing discrete operational leads to capture the remaining suspects.

Police Commitment to Public Safety

The Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, commended the tracking team and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to dismantling kidnapping networks in Kwara State. He urged residents to remain vigilant and share timely information with security agencies.
