AKURE, ONDO STATE — A female farmer abducted from the Parubber community in the Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State has tragically died while in the custody of her abductors.

The victim was one of two farmers recently seized by heavily armed gunmen. The kidnappers marched the victims into a dense forest and subsequently demanded a ₦100 million ransom from their families.

The Commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps), Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed the incident during a press briefing where 14 suspected criminals were paraded.

According to Adeleye, Amotekun operatives launched a rescue operation and located the camp.

However, the female farmer was already severely exhausted and unconscious by the time officers breached the location. She passed away shortly after.

Second Farmer Rescued Alive

The Amotekun boss revealed that the second victim, a male farmer, was successfully rescued alive during the same raid. He is currently receiving medical attention.

In a separate development, Adeleye announced that the corps successfully secured the release of two young boys.

Suspected herdsmen had previously abducted the children in the Owo Local Government Area. Amotekun operatives rescued both boys safely without the payment of any ransom.

Zero Tolerance for Criminality

Adeleye emphasized that these recent operations highlight the synergy and determination of local security agencies. He vowed that security forces will continue to deny criminals any safe havens or hiding places across Ondo State.
