From Abandoned Space to Modern Hub: Wike Unveils Life Camp Park Transformation
ABUJA — The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate transformation of the abandoned recreational garden at the Life Camp Roundabout into a modern leisure and sporting facility.
Speaking during an inspection of the site, Wike revealed that positive feedback from First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu regarding recent urban renewals inspired the decision to scale up green spaces across the nation’s capital.
The initiative aims to enhance the aesthetic value of Abuja while providing residents with accessible areas for fitness and relaxation.
In addition to the Life Camp project, the Minister announced plans to introduce an annual New Year’s Eve fireworks display at the Abuja City Gate.
Starting December 31, 2026, the event is designed to position Abuja alongside leading global capital cities that celebrate the new year with iconic public spectacles. “We want to ensure that residents have access to quality recreational facilities,” Wike stated, noting that the administration is committed to reversing the abandonment of public parks.
This redevelopment forms a core part of the FCT Administration’s ongoing strategy to elevate urban living standards.
By integrating more green zones, leisure parks, and modern sports facilities, the administration hopes to promote healthier lifestyles and boost local tourism within the Federal Capital Territory.
