EPL TRANSFER NEWS
- Chelsea turns to experience
- Liverpool flirting with Barcola
- Tottenham eyes Gakpo
The Premier League transfer market has been sent into overdrive following series of sensational developments involving two of English football’s heavyweights, Chelsea and Liverpool.
Chelsea’s suprise move for Jordan Henderson is still a talking point as the veteran 36 years old England midfielder has penned a two-year deal at Stamford Bridge after leaving Brentford by mutual consent.
His signing was said to be specifically requested by new manager Xabi Alonso, as he seeks to bolster experience into the squad, together with the acquisition of 35-year-old Danny Welbeck.
But there are also expected exits from Stamford Bridge with a €30 million agreement reached for Trevoh Chalobah to Italian side Como
Meanwhile Liverpool is seeking to shake things up again as it circles around PSG star Bradley Barcola with manager Andoni Iraola toying with some squad reshuffle at Anfield.
The signing of the French international winger—if it sails through—could be the club’s marquee acquisition this summer.
However, his fee has created some reservations among fans. Club icon Jamie Carragher warned a record-breaking transfer fee could trigger high-profile departures.
This is as Tottenham Hotspur seems set to step up their bid to land Dutch forward Cody Gakpo, with Liverpool said to be demanding nothing lower than £60 million.
Simultaneously, midfielder Curtis Jones is pushing for a move away from Merseyside. Italian giants Inter Milan are closing in on Liverpool’s £35 million valuation, with a compromise fee of around £30 million expected to bridge the gap in the coming days.
