10th Woman Found Dead in South Africa Amid Growing Serial Killer Panic

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa — Fears of an active serial killer targeting South African women have intensified after police confirmed the discovery of a 10th female body in Moroka, Soweto.

The latest victim was discovered on Sunday. Forensic investigators are combing the scene for clues to establish if the death is connected to a brutal wave of violence that has gripped Gauteng province over the past two months.

The discovery follows the deaths of nine other women, whose bodies were found dumped across the Ekurhuleni municipality. While police are exploring the possibility of a lone predator or group of killers, Deputy National Police Commissioner Tebello Mosikili noted that a ninth victim found in Villa Liza, Boksburg, appears to be tied to a distinct love triangle.

The surge in killings has triggered nationwide outrage and a political response. The ruling African National Congress (ANC) has challenged men to step up and actively dismantle the structural cultures driving Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF).

Expressing deep alarm over the unexplained deaths of the women discovered in Ekurhuleni since July, President Cyril Ramaphosa issued an urgent directive calling for immediate, community-wide accountability to curb the crisis.
