US Open 2026: Alexander Zverev Overpowers Ben Shelton for Maiden New York Title
Germany’s Alexander Zverev has won the U.S. Open men’s singles title, defeating American Ben Shelton 6-3, 7-6 (2), 5-7, 6-2 at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The victory effectively ended Ben Shelton’s hopes of becoming the first American man to win a Grand Slam singles title since Andy Roddick at the 2003 U.S. Open.
Zverev took a commanding two-set lead before Shelton rallied back to win an energetic third set. However, Zverev reasserted his dominance with an early break in the fourth set to close out the match.
