Son of Israeli Ambassador to US Injured in West Bank Attack
Neria Leiter, the son of Israel’s Ambassador to the United States, Yechiel Leiter, is in critical condition after reportedly being rammed into a car in the occupied West Bank.
The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to the United Nations General Assembly.
Neria Leiter is an Israeli reserve soldier who was manning a security checkpoint near the West Bank settlement of Beit Horon.
According to regional authorities and emergency response teams, he was rushed to a hospital in Jerusalem in critical condition following the assault.
In a statement shared on social media, Ambassador Yechiel Leiter called for public support, saying, “Neria needs a miracle. I believe in the power of prayer, and I believe that when the people of Israel unite, miracles happen.” The targeted attack comes amid heightened regional tensions and a heavy security presence ahead of the Prime Minister’s high-profile diplomatic address in New York.
