Rodri’s First Day in Barcelona After Completing His Move From Manchester City

Barcelona fans are warming up to one of the best summers since the dreadful departure of club icon Lionel Messi in 2021.

With the signing of Rodri, the Catalan club looks set to go into the new season with a blend of youth and top-level experience to compete for the exclusive UEFA Champions League trophy.

And so for many fans, the morning sun over the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper on Tuesday felt different as their new signing Rodri walked through the glass doors of FC Barcelona’s training ground to complete his paperwork.

By 10:45 AM, Rodri was sitting across from the president, penning a four-year contract. Holding up the iconic Blaugrana shirt—still without a number pressed onto the back—the flashing cameras captured a rare, wide smile from the usually stoic midfielder.

The real shift began when he stepped into the dressing room. He was greeted by familiar faces from the Spanish national team. Pedri and Gavi immediately swarmed him, offering tight hugs, while the veterans welcomed his presence with respectful nods. Rodri’s presence in the Barcelona team is literally a game changer, bringing both solidity in the midfield and experience. Hansi Flick, does not need to teach Rodri how to play but simply to integrate him into the team and help him internalize his playing philosophy.
