Plateau Massacre: Governor Mutfwang Visits Mangu, Vows to Defend Ancestral Lands
Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang has expressed sadness over Tuesday’s attack on Bin Mper Community in Mangu Local Government Area.
Mutfwang described the violent assault as “barbaric, senseless, and unacceptable.”

The attack tragically claimed several lives and left multiple residents injured.
The Governor acknowledged that the bloodshed was a direct challenge to his administration’s absolute resolve to safeguard lives and property across Plateau State.
Security Crackdown and Arrests
To prevent future tragedies in vulnerable areas, Mutfwang announced plans to immediately tighten local security frameworks and roll out advanced protection strategies. The suspects have also been taken into custody, as the governor promised to pursue the case until justice is fully served.
“We will do everything within our power to protect your ancestral lands,” Mutfwang reassured the unsettled residents, emphasizing that his government will not tolerate the forced displacement of its people.
Calls for Proactive Intelligence
Before arriving at the scene, the Governor received a detailed security briefing from the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army. Mutfwang pressured military leadership for a shift toward proactive, intelligence-driven, and highly coordinated operations to intercept attackers before they strike.
Traditional Rulers Demand Peace and Resilience
Governor Mutfwang also paid a sympathy visit to the paramount ruler of the Mwaghavul Nation, His Royal Highness Da. John Putmang Hirse, at his palace.

The royal father strongly condemned the killings, labeling them a deliberate attempt to disrupt the peace. He stated that while the Mwaghavul people will remain law-abiding and peaceful, they will absolutely not abandon their ancestral homelands.
