OSUN 2026: We Survived a ‘War’

Afrobeats superstar Davido has thanked the people of Osun for standing by his uncle, Governor. Ademola Adeleke.

The singer likened the election to a “war,” saying they survived a political onslaught from 17 APC governors and other political bigwigs in the ruling party.

“When you have 17 governors, 50 senators, and the House of Reps, I don’t know how many they were, against one man, and he came out victorious; God is good,” he said.

According to Davido, the victory was made possible by his Uncle’s good works and closeness to his people, insisting he did not spend any money to bribe the Osun electorate.

He said the decision of the Osun people to vote and also defend their votes gives hope for Nigeria. “Shout out to Osun youths, you guys didn’t only give hope to people in Osun, you guys gave hope to the whole of Nigeria.” He added, “If this has gone the other way, I think Nigeria would have actually given up on what they call free and fair elections.”
