Nigeria On Course for $1 Trillion Economy by 2030 — Badugu
The Federal Government of Nigeria says it is walking the talk to attain the $1 trillion Gross Domestic Product (GDP) target by 2030, acknowledging that private enterprise will play a key role in driving the bulk of the economic expansion.
Speaking at an investment partnership lab on the sidelines of the 32nd Nigerian Economic Summit, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, explained that the government is aggressively prioritizing critical infrastructure development, strategic investment partnerships, and structural reforms.
The interventions are engineered to accelerate industrial productivity, stimulate job creation, and foster inclusive, sustainable economic growth across all sectors.
To bridge Nigeria’s infrastructure deficit, the Minister reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to maintaining long-term economic reforms in close collaboration with development partners and the private sector.
Bagudu says the government’s strategic focus remains centered on boosting domestic production and ensuring that macroeconomic expansion directly translates into measurable improvements in living standards for all citizens.
The objective received a positive review by the European Union (EU). Its ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Gautier Mignot, appraised Nigeria’s macroeconomic roadmap as having a strong economic outlook and aligning with the EU’s regional development goals.
Ambassador Mignot expressed the bloc’s readiness to deploy technical capacity and mobilize sustainable capital to support the implementation of Nigeria’s structural reforms.
