Nigeria and Ethiopia Partner to Boost Nutrition and Food Security
Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Addis Ababa to lead a high-level Nigerian government delegation to Ethiopia, focusing on nutrition and food security initiatives.
The official diplomatic mission comes at the invitation of Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh. Vice President Shettima will head the Nigerian team at the inaugural Nigeria-Ethiopia Nutrition Leadership Exchange, a forum designed to foster intergovernmental synergy and accelerate the delivery of nutrition programmes across both nations.
The Nigerian delegation includes key state executives and federal ministers, including Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, and Senator Atiku Bagudu, who is the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning.
Others are Senator Abubakar Kyari, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, and Mrs. Zubaida Abubakar, Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
During the working visit, the delegation is scheduled to tour several key Ethiopian agricultural and industrial establishments.
These include a major wheat farm and a banana plantation in the Oromia region, the ‘Bounty of the Basket’ Training Centre, and Jabdu Motors in Bishoftu.
The tours aim to gather practical insights to help address pressing food and economic challenges back home.
